"California Gurls" featuring rapper Snoop Dogg is the lead single from the album. Capitol Records sent the song to U.S. radio on May 7, 2010. The song became available as a digital download on May 11, 2010. The song spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has sold over three million digital copies to date.

2. "Teenage Dream"
Released: July 22, 2010

"Teenage Dream" is the title track and the second single off the album. MTV says it "picks up right where "California Gurls" leaves off. With a strong beat to back her up, Perry sings about a boy who makes her feel like a teenager again" after hearing it at a listening event in New York City. It was released to radio stations on July 22, 2010. The following day the single was released via iTunes. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number twenty.

"Peacock" and "Circle the Drain" were confirmed by Billboard as future singles from the album while Perry later confirmed that "Firework" will receive a single release.

The songs are mostly inspired by Lady Gaga's love of fame in general, and deals with the intricacies of a rich and famous lifestyle, visualized by her. Musically, The Fame album drew inspiration from '80s synthpop while incorporating dance music and clear hooks.

The Fame album received mostly positive reviews, with critics commending Lady Gaga's ability to discover a melodious hook and comparing her vocal abilities to those of Gwen Stefani. The Fame album went to #1 in countries such as the UK, Canada and Ireland. In the US the album peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart. Worldwide, The Fame album has sold over three million copies.

Lady Gaga worked on the melodies and synth work of the album with record producer RedOne. Lady Gaga explained that,

"I just feel like this record is really different- you[']ve got club bangers to more 70s glam to more singer-songwriter records to rock music. "This idea of 'The Fame' runs through and through. Basically, if you have nothing—no money, no fame—you can still feel beautiful and dirty rich. It is her 3rd best-selling album in the United States after Daydream (1995) and Music Box (1993). Mariah Carey album has sold an estimated fifteen million copies worldwide.

Tommy Mottola & other Sony/Columbia executives believed that Mariah Carey had high potential to be the next big superstar, so MAriah Carey's debut album was carefully co-ordinated by a panel of executives, and as a result it was deemed unwise for her and Margulies to produce. Mottola and the committee wanted a debut album with a more contemporary sound (much like Whitney Houston's 1985 debut album Whitney Houston, which many critics called Mariah Carey out for making her album too similar to) that would cross over and appeal to both the R&B and mainstream music markets.

The committee enlisted some of the top producers of the time to produce the songs that Margulies and Carey had written, and to produce and co-write new material with Carey herself. The producers included Rhett Lawrence, Ric Wake and Narada Michael Walden, and only 6 of the nearly 20 songs that Mariah Carey and Margulies had written made the album initially.

Vanessa Hudgens appeared in Robbery Homicide Division as Nicole at "Had" (Season 1, Episode 10). Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) was an American police procedural television series on CBS, created by Barry Schindel with Executive Producer Michael Mann.

Although RHD was critically acclaimed, Law & Order: SVU had better ratings in the same time slot. CBS placed the show on hiatus after the December 7th episode. The series was cancelled after ten episodes. Mann told Variety magazine, "I guess maybe the show never found its audience." There was possible interest by HBO or CBS sister network Showtime to pick up the series, but it never went further than speculation. Because of its NBC Universal ownership, reruns of the series have since aired on the high definition network Universal HD.

Excellent Though Shortlived Cop Series, (Robbery Homicide Division LA)RHDLA is was a great series by the director of Miami Vice and Crime Story. Tom Sizemore leads a credible cast of middle aged detectives in a variety of stories. Ironically, it was Sizemore who in real life got on the wrong side of the law after beating up longtime girlfriend and ex-Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss during a cocaine and viagra fueled binge. So much for the real drama being on the screen.

Robbery Homicide Division LA is a series from the director of Miami Vice and Crime Story, and the general feel is of a mix of the two, which is why it is a don't miss for fans of either series.

I don't know how much Sizemore's personal demons had an impact on the show, but they can't have helped and it ended far too soon.

Robbery Homicide Division LA lasted only one and a half season (13 episodes), which is unfortunate. Try and catch it if you can - convoluted, action packed, and pulling relatively few punches - this show is highly recommended.

High School Musical: The Concert involved a 40-city concert tour (2006-2007) based on the popular hit Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, sponsored by AEG Live and presented by Buena Vista Concerts. The concert toured cities in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

High School Musical: The Concert expanded the Disney Channel franchise that had previously produced a triple-platinum selling soundtrack and had planned a movie sequel.
